[Earn1KaDay] Happy new year, Planning, Ah ha moments, more…

by 5buckguy

OK. So. Here we are in 2012. Almost a full year ahead of us, lots
to do, including the things we didn’t get done in 2011 or 2010 or
2009…

Goals and promises, to others and to ourselves, so how do we stop
the cycle of procrastination and frustration?

One way is to plan. Failing to plan is, as they say, planning to
fail, so a couple of this week’s downloads will help you plan.

Yes, they’ll help, but you have to actually make the plan, commit
to it, follow through, to the end.

Will you do that?

Will you be one of our biggest success stories of 2012?

Post in the Personal Challenges section if you think it will help
you by making you publicly accountable (it helps many), and let’s
have the best year ever.

Special announcement:

If you received and read my email yesterday, the price of Product
Drop will be increasing as of Wednesday, January 11th.

That’s happening for more than one reason, but one big one is so
that I can add products that can only be added to membership sites
that cost $47 or more to join.

That means that I’ll have the flexibility to buy products that I
couldn’t use before, and also my cost to stock the site will
increase.

Of course, if you join before the price goes up, you get all the
benefits after the price increase, so here’s where to do that:

==> http://www.productdrop.com

If you read Rachel’s blog post yesterday, you might realize that
she isn’t as passionate about the value of Product Drop as I am.

That’s OK, and actually she and I had a spirited discussion
yesterday about whether Product Drop is truly a good thing.

Her point is that we both agree that losing focus is NOT a good
thing, and I’ve written 2 books about that, and here I am
recommending that people join a site that helps people get
distracted by lots of new ideas.

True, I can’t disagree with that, but…

My counter argument was that people do that anyway, consuming one
bright shiny object after another, and that at least we’re helping
those people satisfy that craving without spending nearly as much
to do so.

In my mind it comes down to this. Product Drop, and also
Earn1KaDay, have a tremendous inventory of assorted products
available for those that are looking for training in a specific
skill.

And IM’ers need many different skills to succeed.

Not all those skills are about specific business models that people
are focusing on. Some skills are “required reading”… such as list
building, copywriting, knowing how and when to outsource, product
creation, link building, new trends in social marketing… and more.

And our sites provide that training for our members at a very
reasonable cost, compared to buying one product after another a la
carte.

So yes, I agree that Rachel’s right in that once someone has
acquired all the basic skills, that at that point they just need to
sit down, turn off the chatter, and focus on their favorite
business model.

And that’s assuming that those skills never need tweaking. Or that
there aren’t new skills to learn.

For example, if you stopped learning 2 years ago, would you have
missed the Facebook revolution? Or Kindle opportunities? What’s
next on the horizon?

I talked about that in the original 5 Bucks a Day that after a
while, I realized that at that point in time (3 years into my IM
career) I already knew enough to succeed, I just had to focus.

But for much of those 3 years, I didn’t know enough. I tried
things, I learned HTML, blogging, article writing, list building,
affiliate marketing, experimented with things like Adsense, etc.,
and then I was ready.

That was before Twitter and Facebook and other such sites.

Depending on how far you are into your IM education, you might not
want to be distracted by either Product Drop or the Earn1KaDay
download area. That’s fine.

But then again… even if you’re specializing in just one business
model, such as offline marketing, you can still benefit by
acquiring new viewpoints, new ideas, new ah ha moments.

Without having to listen to the daily chatter by going to the WSO
boards yourself, or subscribing to dozens of email lists to hear
about the latest, greatest, and buy them only to be disappointed.

Between Earn1KaDay and Product Drop, you have access to a ton of
information, hundreds or at least dozens of ah ha moments waiting
for you to find them (they’ll be different ah ha’s for everybody,
so no, I can’t provide a list).

So while Rachel’s right that Product Drop can distract people from
their focus point, it can also lead people to find their focus
point, acquiring the skills necessary to realize what it is, at a
very low cost.

And she did admit, we do have some spectacular products in there
from some of the brightest minds on the ‘net.

Our goal this year is to find or build what she calls the “be all,
end all” product for IM’ers, and I’ve got a very rough outline of
what I want that product to contain, and I’m sure she has other
ideas also that eventually we’ll merge together, but even then, one
size does not fit all, your mileage may vary, yada, yada, yada.

I know this next statement goes counter to the philosophy of
Earn1KaDay, but it also comes down to what level of success does a
typical IM’er consider worth their time?

I know a lot of people would be happy with 2 “5 bucks a day”
successes, $10 a day, which is $300 a month, which means that he or
she can lease a new car, or quit a second job, or whatever. Or at
least convince their spouse that they aren’t just wasting their
time.

10 $5 bucks a day successes is $1500 a month, that would be life
changing income for many.

Parlaying those successes and having just one big day, where you
make that elusive 1K day that this site is all about, would be
magic to many, and set loose a stream of awesomeness in the lives
of many.

What is it for you? How many ah ha moments do you need to find to
get to $10, $50, $100 a day?

Or an occasional 1K day.

Those moments are out there, they’re hiding in our download area
and in our threads, or inside Product Drop, or still in the minds
of great product creators you may have never heard of yet.

Focus, sure, but keep an open mind. For example, you can still
focus on offline marketing or affiliate marketing or niche site
building while learning how to outsource some of the tasks you hate
or aren’t good at, or put together a Kindle book or Amazon book, or
build an email list, or …

Rachel’s right. So am I.

I think Product Drop serves a very useful purpose for many IM’ers,
maybe even you. And for many IM’ers, it could be an overwhelming
distraction.

Only you know which it will be for you.

If you want to join Product Drop before the price goes up on
Wednesday, January 11th, here’s a link:

Remember, there’s a special section in the forum called “Special
Offers (By Authors), where members offer their products at a
special price to members.

I’d rather not highlight each one individually, so that this email
doesn’t start looking like a classified ad section, but sometimes
you can get some nice bargains and support your forum friends, so
please remember to check it out next time you drop by the forum:

Reminder: If you’re new to Earn1KaDay, or didn’t remember this, all
the weekly emails, from the beginning of time, are archived on the
blog here:

If you ever miss an email, or want to check the archives, you can
always go there and do a search.

Another reminder: I get asked (a lot) about the affiliate program
to Earn1KaDay. A thread was set up long ago with details, here:

That’s just a short review of some of the highlights, there is much
more going on all the time at the forum. Don’t be a stranger
there, that’s where the primary value of your membership is, after
all. We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a lounge
there if you want to unwind), we’re there to learn from each other,
and share with each other, and as you can see from the above sample
threads, there’s a lot of that happening.

Until next week, I wish you the very best in everything.

Dennis, the 5 Bucks a Day Guy.
