If you’re in the U.S., this is the beginning of a 4-day weekend for
many, or at least 3, starting tomorrow. I hope you enjoy and relax
with friends and/or family in traditional ways, but…
Please remember the reason for the holiday (Memorial Day for those
outside the states). I have personal experience with the gut
wrenching feeling at military funerals, every time I think back to
hearing the 21 gun salute, the taps, the folding of the flag, I
can’t help but tear up. Like as I write these words.
Now it seems that the holiday is more about shopping for discounts
at the malls and auto dealers, but my fondest memories are about
picnics, hot dogs, burgers, watermelon, family outings, and the
unofficial start of the summer season.
