So here we are, another Friday.
The virus is still out there, but now lots of
places are choosing to ignore its existence in
the interest of getting back to a new normal
and restarting the economy.
I hope it works.
Confirmed cases of COVID 19 are up, but
I suspect much of that is because testing
has increased, so those who have it and
don’t have symptoms are now being
counted…
… which means that while we will have
more liberty to walk around freely, we
still need to be careful, washing hands
frequently, practicing social distancing
and all that.
New Jersey is known for its many large
shopping malls. They will be permitted
to open again in late June. That will be
a big test.
Personally I was thrilled to learn that in
my state barber shops will be permitted to
open again on Monday…
And then I drove past my barber’s shop
yesterday and saw a sign in his window
that said “FOR RENT”.
Sigh. One small business that no longer
exists, it seems. It’s not alone.
When I went shopping for a new car
after my accident last month, the only
new car dealer in my town had closed
down.
Those of us who are self employed and
can work from home are very fortunate
indeed.
We control our own prosperity for the
most part, unless of course we work with
the small businesses that are suffering.
That’s why having multiple income streams
are crucial, so that when one of them goes
the way of the dinosaur, you have others
that can make up for it.
Here’s hoping that your income has been
stable or better, and that it continues
on an upward trend in the months and years
ahead.
