Good morning.
On the short drive to the office
this morning, the radio show took
a moment of silence at 8:46 in
memory of the event 19 years ago
when the first plane slammed into
the first tower at the World Trade
Center.
And the town’s sirens went off at
the same time.
I must admit, I was overcome with
sadness, and I remembered where
I was and what I was doing when the
news first came in that fateful day.
Disbelief more than anything at
first. Anger. Terror at what might
still be coming after I heard of
the crash into the Pentagon and the
downed plane in Pennsylvania.
What else was to come?
I will never forget. And the deaths
keep coming to those who ended up
contacting cancer from working at
Ground Zero afterwards.
The country has moved on, but
there became a new normal.
Just as there will be a new normal
after Covid 19 is more a thing of
the past.
How will we change? Will we lose
the ability to shake hands, or
give hugs to children or grand
children or loved ones?
How long will we continue to
keep our distance, especially
from strangers?
I catch myself reacting in anger
at people near me without their
mask covering both their mouth
and nose. How long will that
feeling persist? I don’t like
that I feel that way.
I read the other day that the flu
strain that killed so many millions
in 1918 is still circulating, and
I assume still causing damage to
those who get it.
So it’s obvious that the Covid 19
virus will be around for the duration,
it will not go away.
But the planet still rotates around
the sun, we do what needs to be
done, and we still help others and
love others and adapt.
That’s the only way we can survive
as a species. Not in fear, but by
incremental improvement.
Caution, yes. Fear, no.
And as I type this, the sirens are
going off again. I guess it’s in
memory of the 2nd tower going down.
Never forget, but…
Have a spectacular week.

That’s just a short review of some of the highlights,
there is much more going on all the time at the
forum. Don’t be a stranger there, that’s where the
primary value of your membership is, after all.
We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a
lounge there if you want to unwind), we’re there to
learn from each other, and share with each other,
and as you can see from the above sample threads,
there’s a lot of that happening.
