Good morning. I hope you’re well.
This is typically the time of the year
when back in my retail store days, I was
very excited at the holiday sales that
were coming in.
But at the same time I started to worry
because I knew that soon they would end
and there would be a long hard winter
ahead of us.
I was usually right about that. I was
selling non-essential goods and once
the credit card bills would arrive, the
parents of my customers would tighten
the screws on non-essential purchasing.
Even though most of my time in the
industry was pre-Internet, I was on a
bulletin board system and had lots of
friends in my industry. I can only imagine
how they were able to cope with 2020.
As the saying goes, there but for the
grace of God go I.
Also at this time of year I tend to go
back to basics, which is let my trusty
old subconscious take over and feed me
ideas while I lie in bed at night, and
then write them down with pen and a
legal pad.
I don’t get ideas every night, but I
keep trying and trusting, and besides…
It only takes a couple good ideas to
turn the potential long hard winter into
happy days, but there’s one key to making
it happen, making it work…
Action.
You can’t just let the subconscious feed
you ideas and do nothing. If you do that
consistently, it will stop giving you
ideas and opportunities.
So if you’re wondering “what next” once
this long hard year ends, trust in the
power of your mind.
And trust in the power of taking action.
Once you get a good idea, don’t succumb
to the bright shiny objects that get in
your path.
Keep taking action. Keep your foot on the
gas. And remember, money likes speed.
