Good morning.
Spring is almost here… yay!
Monday it was above 70 degrees.
And on Wednesday it snowed. Not
enough to really be a bother and
force shoveling, but still…
There’s good news, just recently
announced, which is that Major
League Baseball players and owners
have reached an agreement on a new
“collective bargaining agreement”.
Good news to me at least.
Spring wouldn’t have been the same,
for me, without baseball, and the
multi-millionaire players were
negotiating a new agreement with
the billionaire owners. which took
99 days to resolve.
Imagine that. Players making mega
millions in many cases, to play a
game that kids love playing for free…
… and they want even more money!
And they got it!
Imagine that.
Meanwhile there’s a real risk of
World War 3, hyper inflation, and
climate change causing untold
amounts of devastation, not to
mention a pandemic, all of which
are a bit more important.
The majority of Americans can’t
afford to actually go out and see
a game where these guys play,
because it costs so much already.
And don’t get me started on streaming
services buying up the rights to show
the games that used to be shown on
free TV.
I’ll listen to them on radio, thank
you, like I did when I was a boy with
a transistor radio tucked underneath
my pillow at night.
Or maybe not at all.
In other news, I no longer own a
condo on the oceanfront. The new
buyer closed on it yesterday, and
I’ve eliminated some financial
expenses, which at this point of
my life is good.
Meanwhile, life as an IMer goes on
as normal. I hope you’re doing well.
