Good morning.
What a beautiful week this has
been, and a forecast for a
magnificent weekend… even with
a little rain in the forecast, I
don’t mind, because the temps
will be perfect for my taste.
Have you been following the
financial markets?
Wow, what a wild ride it has
been, and the roller coaster has
mostly been going downhill.
Not only the stock markets, but
maybe especially the crypto ones.
Much of the crypto problem has come
because of what was supposed to be
a “stable coin”, a.k.a. pegged to
the value of the US Dollar.
Most are backed by assets that are
reliable, but one, the Terra UST
stable coin, was not, and it crashed
this week. Meant to be worth a dollar,
it is now worth 11 cents, and was
forced to sell off lots of the bitcoin
it had in reserve, which at least
partially caused a crash in bitcoin
prices.
And when bitcoin goes down or up in
value, so do most of the other crypto
coins and tokens.
Bitcoin is now recovering slightly,
and hopefully the worst is over.
Related to UST, the LUNA token, which
a week ago was worth around $80, is
now available for around $.00005,
so around 20,000 per dollar.
Taking a bit of a gamble last night,
I bought a couple hundred thousand
of them, figuring things might improve
eventually, and the risk/reward is
rather enticing.
I don’t expect the price to get back
to $80, but if UST gets pegged back
to the dollar like it always was,
then, well, LUNA might rise nicely.
But that’s just hope and dreams. My
main focus is my business, and as
always, the forum has some updates
